Are there any requirements for medically assisted reproduction?

The bioethics law of August 2, 2021 provides a framework for PGM practices. The law defines strict criteria for carrying out PGM.

For an ongoing parental project :

  • Be a heterosexual couple, a female couple or a single woman
  • have followed the steps described in the "what are the steps" chapter: information, consent and medical evaluation
  • Meet the age requirements (see "What are the minimum and maximum age requirements for medically assisted procreation in France?)- Insemination: up to the woman's 45th birthday. If the woman is a couple, until the spouse's 60th birthday.
    • Oocyte puncture followed by in vitro fertilization: up to the woman's 43rd birthday. If she is a couple, until the spouse's 60th birthday.
    • Frozen embryo transfer: up to the woman's 45th birthday. If she is a couple, up to the spouse's 60th birthday.
