Les Rencontres de la biomédecine is a biannual, multidisciplinary scientific event organized by the agency. They bring together experts, healthcare professionals, researchers, associations and decision-makers to discuss the scientific, societal and ethical challenges of biomedicine. These meetings are part of the agency's ongoing commitment to advancing medicine and innovating to improve patient care.
Background and objectives
Les Rencontres de la biomédecine brings together healthcare professionals, researchers, patients and institutions, and covers the full range of medical and scientific issues governed by the French bioethics laws: transplants, human genetics, embryology, medically-assisted procreation: transplants, human genetics, embryology, medically-assisted reproduction... With a high level of scientific rigor, but also a concern for the democratization of knowledge, they enable knowledge to be shared and current and future issues linked to biomedical innovations and patient care to be debated... Multidisciplinary and collaborative, these meetings are part of a logic of dialogue and transparency. A steering committee, made up of internal and external experts, guarantees the relevance and diversity of the topics addressed, making this event a unique forum for exchange and collaboration.
A look back at the first Rencontres
The first Rencontres de la biomédecine were held on October 12 and 13, 2023, bringing together 450 participants to discuss five major themes: science & ethics, care pathways, medical practices, health & society, and research & innovations.
"Discussions were particularly rich around transplantation, with the presentation of the first xenograft and the testimony of a patient who benefited from a vascularized composite allograft of both arms.
