I'm 38, can I still donate my eggs?

Published on 18 December 2024

To donate an oocyte, the regulations currently in force in France are based on the following criteria: you must be in good health, aged between 18 and 37 inclusive.

The age limit set for gamete donation, whether for oocytes or sperm, corresponds to the most fertile years for women and men, in order to offer the best chances of success for those in need of medically assisted procreation with gamete donation. It's important to remember that spontaneous female fertility declines from the age of 30, and sharply after 37, due to a decrease in the number and quality of oocytes with age.

If you can't go ahead with your donation project, you can support this cause by talking to your friends and family about gamete donation. Talking about it to those around you also gives people a better chance of becoming parents.
