Romania has called on the expertise of the Agence de la biomédecine to develop its legislative framework for organ and tissue procurement and transplantation, optimize the organization of graft distribution and improve physician training.

In 2024, the Agence de la biomédecine signed a bilateral cooperation agreement with the Romanian National Transplant Agency. This cooperation agreement is aimed at developing a legal framework for the Romanian agency, training healthcare professionals, setting up a tissue bank and deploying perfusion machines, which are essential for organ procurement and transplantation activities, as well as managing transplant registers.

The Agency's international cooperation initiatives are based on our shared values (solidarity, public information, neutrality, ethics and fairness) and the sharing of our expertise in the legal framework for activities, the management of registers, the training of healthcare professionals and the drafting of guidelines and best practice guides.
