By whom and how are the objectives of the Agence de la biomédecine set?

Published on 18 December 2024

The Agence de la biomédecine's strategic objectives are defined by ministerial plans and a contract of objectives and performance. These documents provide a framework for the agency's priorities, and set out the main thrusts of its missions within the framework of national public health policies.

The 2022-2026 ministerial plans cover three main areas: organ and tissue procurement and transplantation, hematopoietic stem cell procurement and transplantation, and human reproduction, embryology and genetics. Drawn up in collaboration with numerous institutional players, healthcare professionals and patient associations, these plans establish the objectives and management of these activities for the next five years.

The 2022-2026 Contract of Objectives and Performance, signed with the Ministry of Health, formalizes the agency's specific commitments. It is structured around two axes: a "medical and scientific" axis to improve practices in its fields of expertise, and a "cross-functional" axis to reinforce the overall performance and efficiency of the agency's actions.
