What is the Agence de la biomédecine's ethics policy?
Published on 18 December 2024
The Agence de la biomédecine is guided by strict ethical principles to guarantee the integrity and transparency of its actions. As a public establishment, it applies rigorous ethical rules on two levels:
- The agency ensures that its employees respect the principles of independence and impartiality. Each employee is required to complete a declaration of interests to avoid any potential conflict of interest in the performance of his or her duties.
- External experts who work with the agency on committees or working groups are also required to make a declaration of interest. These declarations are systematically updated and published to guarantee the transparency of the expertise provided and prevent any conflict of interest.
These obligations, set out in the Code of Ethics for Public Health Expertise, are designed to ensure total transparency in the performance of the agency's missions, in line with the regulatory and ethical requirements of the sector.
In addition, the agency publishes its activity reports and medical and scientific data, thus ensuring clear and accessible information for our supervisory ministry, healthcare professionals, associations, journalists and the general public. This commitment to transparency is also in line with the French bioethics law, which requires rigorous monitoring of medical practices.
