Neuroscience watch

Published on 28 March 2025

Since 2011, the French Biomedicine Agency (Agence de la biomédecine) has been monitoring scientific developments in the field of neuroscience, in accordance with the French bioethics laws. This mission consists of informing Parliament, the Government and all stakeholders about advances in research, as well as their ethical, societal and regulatory implications.

A scientific and ethical mission

Against a backdrop of rapid development in the neurosciences, the Agency has set up a scientific watch to monitor developments in knowledge and innovation, and to analyze work being carried out in the neurosciences, both in France and internationally. This approach enables us to inform public decision-makers about scientific advances and new ethical and regulatory issues, and thus to anticipate any need for legislative adaptation.

Biomedicine newsletter

To regularly report on this watch, the Agency publishes "La Lettre de la biomédecine: veille stratégique en santé". This publication, which is accessible to all, provides a summary of significant advances, analyses carried out with recognized experts, and perspectives opened up by the latest research in neuroscience. This publication contributes to strengthening the dialogue between scientists, institutions and citizens on the implications of these advances.
