The Agence de la biomédecine's missions concerning the follow-up of chronic kidney disease are defined by the French bioethics laws, enshrined in the Code de la santé publique (Public Health Code). These laws and regulations guarantee a strict and transparent framework, ensuring the quality, safety and fairness of practices.
The legal framework for monitoring chronic kidney disease
In accordance with the decree governing its missions, the Agence de la biomédecine monitors, evaluates and controls the medical and biological activities falling within its remit, and ensures the transparency of its activities. The agency provides the institutional framework for the REIN network, dedicated to monitoring chronic kidney disease. The REIN network carries out quantitative and qualitative analysis of the information collected via the REIN register and the techniques used, including therapeutic alternatives to transplantation. The REIN network also analyzes the results obtained.

The legal framework for monitoring chronic kidney disease is based on article R 1418-2 of the French Public Health Code. The Agence de la biomédecine oversees the implementation of this text, supports healthcare professionals and provides resources to ensure compliance with regulations.
