In brief
Published on 20 February 2025
The chronic kidney disease observatory, managed by the Agence de la biomédecine, monitors this pathology in France. It is based on a structured national and regional organization, enabling data to be centralized and analyzed to meet the epidemiological and health challenges associated with chronic kidney disease. Its actions, carried out within a strict and transparent legal framework, are fully in line with the agency's missions.
The REIN network
The REIN network aims to improve the management of chronic kidney disease and promote clinical and epidemiological research. It operates at several levels - local, regional and national - to collect and analyze relevant data on this pathology. The REIN network, whose institutional support is provided by the Agence de la biomédecine, brings together healthcare professionals, public institutions, learned societies and patient associations. This organization guarantees national consistency and structured, appropriate local action.
The REIN register
Developed by the REIN network, the REIN registry centralizes data on patients with stage 4 and 5 chronic kidney disease in France. Fed by several sources, notably the Diadem application for dialysis and Cristal for renal transplantation, it provides a comprehensive overview of patient care paths. These data are collected by medical and administrative teams, clinical research associates from REIN regional units, Cristal clinical study technicians, and through computerized data exchanges with dialysis software. The REIN Scientific Advisory Board defines the registry's scientific orientations.
Scientific reports and publications
Data from the REIN registry, used by the REIN network as part of its chronic kidney disease observatory, are used in international, national and regional reports, scientific publications and research projects. These documents and studies help to increase our knowledge of this disease, and to improve prevention and medical practices.
In this section, you'll find all the key figures, scientific reports and publications, research projects and tools produced by the Chronic Kidney Disease Observatory.
