In carrying out its work, the Agence de la biomédecine relies on a structured and coordinated organization at the national and regional levels. This organization promotes multidisciplinary expertise and local action, tailored to the specific needs of the different regions and patients.
Multidisciplinary national coordination
The agency relies on a centralized structure, led by the Chief Executive Officer, supported by a Deputy Chief Executive Officer responsible for medical and scientific policy, who manages the three medical departments covering the agency’s areas of expertise, a Deputy Chief Executive Officer responsible for resources – human resources, legal, finance, etc. – and a communications and public relations department. This organization is enriched by cross-functional centers of excellence, for example on research or data, which provide diversified expertise and an integrated approach in its various areas of intervention. This structure allows the agency to respond in an innovative and highly operational way to the challenges posed by bioethics.
Coordinated regional action
The agency makes every effort to ensure that patients have fair access to care, based on a strong local network. The agency’s regional departments coordinate actions on the ground, regulate collections, and train and raise awareness among health professionals. The agency has also established a regional coordination structure for ministerial plans, in collaboration with regional health agencies, to provide a response tailored to specific local needs.
